Welcome to FOSUG

Upcoming

Next FOSUG Meeting: Saturday July 17th, 2010 3:30pm

July's Topic: TBA

Come in, meet the Group, get some answers. To see what topics we've covered in past meetings, go to the Previous_Meetings page. You'll see that we've covered many different topics such as how to use Screen, tips on Hacking Google, as well as how to use Gimp for graphics. Our group has a wide range of users, from Systems Administrators to hobbyists, and we enjoy showing others what Linux and Open Source programs can do. Our group is casual, relaxed, and open to new members, both those that bring their own expertise and those that bring their questions.

Penguins in the Park

We are beginning preparations for our Penguins in the park Summer Picnic. Happily, we have been able to reserve Oso de Oro park for September 18th. This is a lovely park with nice grounds and facilities that we have successfully used before.

Our Meetings

Our meetings are currently held in The Clovis Public Safety Community Room at: 1233 Fifth Street Clovis, CA 93612 every 3rd Saturday from 3:30-5:30 for all of 2010. We are very happy to have a new home, and look forward to all we can learn and teach in the coming year.

Flyer

Have something to hand out to interested ones: Media:Genericflyer.pdf

  • FOSUG Dinner - FOSUG dinner is often held at our favorite location, Shanghai Chinese Cuisine. Dinner times and locations are discussed in the IRC chat and on the mailing list, and then posted here. FOSUG Dinners are a great way to meet the group, and ask questions about Linux/Open Source in a relaxed setting. Newcomers are welcome! Dinners are served family style, and generally run about $10 per person.
  • If you have an idea for a demonstration on an open source OS or software, please post your idea to the mailing list.
  • 12/02/08 - Mailing list and website are back, after an upgrade went less than smoothly. Thanks to Stevo for diligently backing up and maintaining our server.
  • 10/5/08 - The Fosug IRC has moved to FREENODE.NET.
    • Please point your IRC clients to the new server. We are still in #fosug
